What is EAS?

EAS or Electronic Article Surveillance is an electronic solution to prevent shoplifting and the theft of high value items. Tags are fixed to the individual item and then removed or deactivated when the item is purchased. To provide protection, sensors are placed at the exits which can detect the tag and then set off an alarm.
