Situation

Over 18 months of planning and implementation went into the fire and security system at the Eden Project in Cornwall.  ADT worked in conjunction with electrical contractors MJN Colstons, designers Ove Arup and the facilities management team to ensure that the project opened on schedule.

Solution

Fire and intruder detection, CCTV and PA/VA devices are spread across a multitude of buildings and linked back to the central control house. This enabled the exact position of an incident to be located and monitored, avoiding unnecessary evacuation of the entire site.  Central to the design of the system was that the 200 detectors and 500 PA/VA speakers throughout the centre blended into the overall aesthetics of the buildings.
