Waste Management

ADT UK & Ireland resolved to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

Along with the WEEE Directive and Battery and Accumulator Directive, we achieved a great reduction in this field.

In 2009:

• 45.61% of our total waste (excluding WEEE) was recycled
• We increased our recycling rate by 24%, diverting more than 566 tonnes away from landfill
• 23 tonnes of our confidential waste was securely disposed of and recycled in keeping with the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA)
• Waste Transfer Stations for mixed waste allows for further sorting and enabled us to recover, recycle and divert 51 tonnes of material from landfill
• A mixed recycling service makes recycling across the estate as easy as possible for our staff, allowing us efficiently recycle more than 23 tonnes of material in 2009 - the equivalent weight of approximately 2,300 fire extinguishers and 4% of our overall recycling in 2009
• 100% of card collected from ADT UK & Ireland is reprocessed and recycled
