TSM800 From ADT - The Ultimate Door Control
15 March 2010

ADT Fire & Security has launched the new TSM800 door control module. The only one of its kind, the TSM800 has been developed to meet the stringent requirements of BS7273 part 4, which sets new standards for the way in which fire doors release.

The TSM800 is used to control fire doors that are normally held open by magnetic door holders or similar devices. When activated, either by a fire signal or by a fault or isolation within the fire door zone, the TSM800 will interrupt the supply to the door holders and the doors under the control of the module will close. The module also has provision to monitor a contact and report to the fire controller if a door fails to close - due to it being wedged open, for example.

The BS7273 part 4 "Actuation of Release Mechanisms for doors” now defines three different categories A, B and C. The TSM800 meets the most demanding - category A - which should be employed for life risk applications. The TSM800 is designed to trigger the process of closing fire compartment doors whenever circumstances indicate there might be a problem, in order to help reduce the risk of fire damage.

The TSM800 door control can be fully integrated with the latest fire detection systems using MZX Technology®.

"If personal injury and damage to property are to be avoided in the event of a fire, it is particularly important that fire compartments are separated from each other automatically with a minimum effort from the user," explained Peter Lackey, Fire Product Marketing Manager from ADT Fire & Security. "The TSM800 door control module, when used with the MZX Technology control panel’s fire detectors, will help prevent the spread of fire and smoke by automatically closing the affected compartments’ fire doors. It is the only device of its type that fully meets the stringent new requirements of BS7273-4

“In addition, the TSM800 has been developed to monitor emergency breakglass callpoints, which can activate the door control module or to monitor the closure of the door - and it can also inform users if a door has failed to close."
The new TSM800 door controller from ADT Fire & Security has been VdS EN 54-17 and EN 54-18 approved.
