Gaseous Extinguishing - Quality and design

A team of locally based systems design engineers based in ADT’s extensive branch network are situated throughout the UK and Ireland. This brings the designer close to the actual project and means that in most cases the design engineer actually sees the room or area that the system will protect. This is always advantageous over carrying out the design from drawings or sketches provided by others.

The design engineers can liaise with our sales consultants and customers to discuss all the relevant issues relating to the proposed system including over-pressurisation, air-conditioning shutdown, extract arrangements of gas following discharge, room integrity testing, safety signage and system status lamp indication requirements, etc.

Room Integrity Testing

One of the requirements of BS ISO 14520 is that a room integrity test is carried out when a new system is installed. This is usually done at the end of the contract when all services to the room are complete and all transit points to the room have been sealed.

The test provides a measurement of the total leakage area within the protected area and a predicted retention time for the extinguishing agent within the room. This ensures that the agent will be retained for the required duration.
