Fire Detection Technology

With early warning of fire being a primary concern there has been much development over recent years to achieve this aim, at the same time a drive to ensure false or unwanted alarms are minimised, has led to a new generation of detection devices.

Working to develop technology which achieves false alarm resilience and early detection means that the range of technologies has now expanded to include CO as well as multi criteria intelligent detection.

With any fire the parameters can be completely different, there are slow burning fires producing lots of CO at the early stages, then there are situations where a lot of smoke is produced, which can be different depending on the combustible materials involved.

Detection Technologies include:

  • Combined Optical Smoke and Heat Detection
  •  Heat Detection
  •  High Sensitivity Smoke Detection
  • Combined CO (Carbon Monoxide) & Heat Detection
  • Ionisation (An older technology still used for certain applications) Detection
  • Flame Detection
  • Gas Detection
  • Multi Detection using CO, Smoke and Heat

In addition to “point” detection there are detection devices designed for situations where a detector on a ceiling is not going to work within its parameters or local conditions call for a differing technology. We can then use the following technologies:

  • Linear Heat Detection
  • Optical Smoke Beam Detection
  • High Sensitivity Detection

The latest range of technologies ensure each and every risk can be detected quickly and effectively by choosing the correct device type as well as ensuring the system is designed to meet local conditions and risks.
