Keyholders and their Duties
A Vital Link In Your Security
A keyholder is a person who you have nominated to be the key contact. ADT require at least two nominated keyholders. If your alarm is activated and you are not available, one of your keyholders will be asked to visit your home to provide access for the police or other emergency services if required.
To ensure that your emergency is answered in the shortest time possible, your keyholders must live within twenty minutes' travelling time of your home, have keys to your property and be familiar with your home protection system.
If for any reason you are unable to nominate a keyholder there are companies which provide this type of service.
Being a key-holder is easy and they should be aware of the following:
- The correct entry/exit route to the property
- How to unlock the property
- Where the home security panel, keypad and proximity reader are located
- How to set and unset the monitored home security system and the system code/password (keyholders can have their own code assigned)
- The telephone number of the ADT Customer Service Centre
- The telephone number of ADT's Service Bureau, to request an engineer if required
- How to contact the homeowner
- Where the log book is kept
- How to reset the alarm
- How to lock up again
TIP: Homeowners can help their key-holders by allowing them to set & unset their home security system when they come to visit.
