Helpful Home Security and Safety Tips
Outside and Around Your Home?
Burglary, on the whole, is an opportunist crime. A building that presents itself as unoccupied and insecure is far more likely to be targeted than one which is properly secured.*
- Fit security lighting on the front and back of the house.
- Never leave garages or sheds unlocked – not only you risk loosing your property but you are also supplying the burglar with the tools to break into your house.
- Ensure that garage door is secure, especially if there is an adjoining door into your house.
- Keep garden gates locked.
- Fit trellis on top of garden fences to make them more difficult for burglars to climb into your garden.
- Maintain your garden and greenery around your home to ensure that you provided maximum visibility to and from your home.
- Tree limbs and branches should be trimmed to prevent thieves from climbing in windows.
- Lock away garden tools – ensure that ladders and garden tools are out of sight and secure to prevent burglars from using them to break into your home.
