Arson Prevention Tips for Education

What can you do?

In 2001, school fires cost the nation nearly £100 million. That's the same cost as building 45 new primary schools or employing an extra 3,750 teachers. (Local Government Association)

Introducing some simple measures can help to reduce the risk of arson to your premises, as well as students, pupils and staff. ADT recommendations include:

  • Carrying out an arson risk assessment as part of your fire risk assessment.
  • Investing time in fire safety management, prepare contingency plans and determine evacuation procedures.
  • Include fire education in teaching plans, interactive activities and games.
