ADT Intruder Alarms - Your responsibilities as a keyholderWhy are keyholders needed? An ADT monitored security system is connected via a telephone line or our Alarm Receiving Centre, a secure building where trained staff monitor signals 24 hours a day, every day of the year. If an alarm signal is sent to our Alarm Receiving Centre, our operators will take the necessary action. One of those actions will include calling the property to check the alarm signal is genuine and then, if necessary, calling the emergency services. The police require that a person with a monitored alarm provides the names, addresses and contact details of at least two people, who live within 20 minutes travelling time of the alarmed property, to act as keyholders.
