ADT Home Security - System Reliability

Because you rely on your alarm

Your system is designed to be easy to operate and to provide problem-free service, but it is important to ensure that nothing interferes with its ability to protect you and your property.

Test your system

You should check the system and the area covered by your movement detectors on a regular basis (at least every three months), by means of a walk test.  These tests are described in the user guide.  Please notify the Service Bureau immediately if you are aware of any defect or malfunction.

Are your detectors obstructed?

You should avoid placing large pieces of furniture or other items in front of, or close to, detection devices.

If you alter the internal or external structure of you property or move large pieces of furniture, it may affect the ability and performance of the system and its detectors.  In these circumstances, please contact us immediately for a FREE survey.

Extra Equipment

Any additional equipment or devices not provided by ADT to be connected to the system then please advise us in writing.  The connection, maintenance and performance of these devices will be your sole responsibility.

Pets

If pets are allowed to stray into those areas which are protected by a movement detector, they are likely to cause your system to activate.  We can provide a range of alternative security devices which are designed to protect your property while allowing your pets freedom of movement.

If you get a pet after your security system has been installed, please let us know.  We will be pleased to provide advice or to arrange a free visit to review your system.

System Log Book

We will also provide you with a system log book and show you how to record events in the book.

Your system can be jeopardised by lack of care. Please ensure that you keep your codes and any other information regarding it in a safe place.  If you misuse the system frequently, the Police will withdraw their response to your property, which will affect your security and may affect your insurance cover.
