TestimonialsRoss Cunliffe, Enterprise Sales, Sheffield I spent 4 years at De Montfort Uni, Leicester where I completed a degree in Business Studies. I also spent a year at Robert Bosch as part of this working for the UK Brand Manager. After completing my degree I went to work for Jackel International in Newcastle as a marketing assistant. After 6 months I was moved to the Innovation department where I became a junior product manager. I then left the position after 1 year to move into sales, and joined ADT. I am currently working in Sheffield for the Enterprise Sales Channel, which basically means we look after small commercial business. A typical day involves going to audits on existing customers, booking audits for future appointments, visiting warm leads, designing specifications, performing quote presentations and hopefully getting orders, so it’s very varied and great to be out and about. I also enjoy the fact that I get to influence people on an important area of their business, learning several new things every day an applying it, good relationship with my boss and the other people who work out of Sheffield. So far the only bad things really are the frustration of not being completely competent at the job whilst I am still learning and other smaller companies under pricing my quotes! I’m looking forward to learning more and more though, and of course selling more and developing and progressing through the business. Paul Favill, Enterprise Sales, Manchester Back in 2003, I graduated with a 2-1 Hons in Business Studies. I worked in Retail as a Manager, and an Area Trainer for a year before I sought to broaden my horizons by teaching in Tokyo for a year and half. Upon my return, I worked in Sales for a year, and then decided that the Tyco, ADT Graduate Scheme was the right step for me. Since starting on the Scheme in February 07’, I have been working as an Enterprise Consultant in Manchester, gaining a vital understanding of our Business. The role brings with it a steep learning curve, and at times, has been a frustrating process building up the tools and knowledge to help myself become a top performer. However, my Branch Sales Manager, and our team have been an invaluable resource, enabling me to move myself in the right direction. It is truly fantastic earning money doing something I enjoy– and spending it, of course! As I am building my performance month on month, the best is yet to come! Being part of the first Graduate intake, it is an exciting time to be involved in the Scheme as the company is making significant changes to move forward. The high expectations held for the graduate scheme, and those involved, means that development is taken seriously, and I intend to grab this opportunity to make a real impact! Mike Howarth, Service Sales, Manchester I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2005 in Sports Management. Since then I worked in a contact centre for the Carphone Warehouse training broadband technical support advisors. I then decided to move into sales and this graduate scheme with ADT was very appealing. After a fairly intensive training period I am now out and about successfully seeking new business. I am responsible for setting up maintenance contracts for Fire, CCTV, Intruder and other security systems. Thus far it has proved extremely rewarding and although the targets are challenging, I have exceeded them so far. My colleagues both in Manchester and Liverpool have been extremely helpful and are only ever a phone call away if their knowledge is required. It is important to learn quickly that the best sales people work the smartest, not necessarily the hardest. Setting up appointments in the same area for the same day may seem like an obvious thing to do, but not everyone does it. A lot of success is reaped in sales due to people utilizing common sense. It is these simple points that I bear in mind throughout my time on the road. Overall I am pleased with my progress so far, and am certainly looking forward to the varied challenges that this role is sure to provide me in the future. I would definitely recommend anybody who feels that they have the confidence and enthusiasm needed in sales, to apply for the graduate scheme with ADT. |
