Give your new home castle-worthy security

October 10 2018

Moving house is an exciting time; the chance to build a home for you and your family. But while you’re unpacking the bed chamber and picking out paint for the grand hall, it’s easy to forget security.

It’s National Security Month, the perfect time to take advantage of great deals and get some useful tips about keeping your new home secure. So, from drawbridge to turrets, here’s how to make your new home as secure as a castle:

Entrances and Exits

If someone wants to storm your castle, they’ll start by scoping out the entrances and exits. Checking the locks on doors and windows is your first port of call, changing and adding locks where you need to.

CCTV

Get your armoured guards in place. CCTV cameras are a strong visual deterrent that tells intruders you take your security seriously – both inside and outside the house. You can also link them to our app, so you can check who’s coming and going 24/7.

Current alarm system

First thing’s first, check whether you have an alarm system installed. If your castle is already guarded by ADT we can reconnect it, if it isn’t we can easily switch it over - all with our great ‘movers in’ offer.

Smoke and fire

Long gone are the days when strongholds were made of stone alone – and even then flaming arrows were a risk. If you have them in your new home, test your smoke alarms and replace the batteries.

Pet friendly

From strong horses to stable dogs, no castle is complete without animals. No matter what your pet, you’ll get plenty of false alarms if your system isn’t set up properly for pets wandering the house. You can find out more about pet-friendly alarms here.

There you have it, no need for moats, bow and arrows or knights in shining armour. With some simple security considerations, you’re all set to protect your castle this National Security Month.
