Getting you ready for installation
Ahead of your installation, we’ll be in touch to explain the process and check everything is okay at your end. Your friendly installation engineer will then send you a text message, confirming the time and date of your appointment.
If you need to change this, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
Installation day
When the day comes for your new ADT security system to be installed, don’t worry about the details. Our knowledgeable engineers will walk you through the process and provide you with all the information you need. As long as you make sure the main account holder is present and provide access for your engineer, we’ll take care of the rest.
Alarm installation and set-up typically takes a few hours, depending on the size of your property and the number of devices involved.
Here’s what you can expect when your installation date arrives
1. Your chosen security equipment will be fitted, including any necessary wall fixings
2. Cabling and wires for mounted equipment will be encased in trunking for a neat finish
3. Once your system is fully installed, our engineer will complete configuration.
4. The engineer will show you how to use your ADT system, step-by-step.
Preparing for ADT Smart Home
To make sure your installation runs smoothly, we ask that you have a few things prepared so our engineers can get to work:
- A broadband internet connection and an available Ethernet port on your router
- Access to the primary account holder’s emails
- Access to a computer, smartphone or tablet to create your ADT Smart Services account
- ADT Smart Services downloaded to your Apple or Android devices (don’t try to log in yet, just keep it handy for your installation date)
- If you’ve chosen a Video Service solution, you’ll need your Wi-Fi password handy for IP camera installation
Health & Safety
Health & safety is essential in everything we do. ADT operates a Zero Harm policy, to ensure both our customers and engineers are never placed in harm’s way.
As part of this policy, we kindly ask our customers:
- To make sure the property is safe to enter
- To move any large pieces of furniture that may impede access prior to our engineer’s arrival - this will help them move around the work area more easily
- To let us know if building work is taking place at your property, in case we need to rearrange our visit
- To be aware that our dummy boxes and outdoor cameras cannot be installed above a flat roof, on cladding, or at a height above 3 metres
Professional sign-off
Once your security system is installed, the engineer will give everything one final test and clean up the work area. This is a great opportunity to ask any other questions you might have.
